Totals Meaning – Betting on Total Number of Points in a Game or a Match

Totals, commonly known as over/under bets, are a form of bets in which you predict the final number of points or goals that will be scored in a game.

You have two options, to bet over if you think there will be more than the number the sportsbook presented you with or under if you think there will be fewer than the line.

For example, let’s say that the sportsbook set a total of 214.5 points for an NBA game between the Lakers and Golden State.

If you bet under, the combined number of points must be under 214. On the other hand, if you bet over, the two teams must score at least a combined total of 215 points for you to win the bet.
