A line is a form of betting in which the bookmaker tailored the parameters for betting on the underdog or the favorite.
For example, let’s say that the Packers are playing the Patriots and the sportsbook offers you the line on the Patriots of -5.5, and on the Packers, +5.5.
If you bet on the Patriots to win, they need to win with a margin of at least six points. If you bet the line on the Packers, they need to win or lose by no more than five points.
