True odds are the real chances of an outcome happening and are always better than the odds you find at your sportsbook.
Bookmakers start creating their betting odds based on the true odds or their best estimate of them.
For example, if the true odds for a team winning their matchup are 2.5, the sportsbook will set their odds at 2.2, giving them plenty of room for profit, as the payout the bettors will get is below the true odds they should be betting at.
