A future bet is an early bet on the eventual outcome of a competition or tournament that will be decided sometime in the future.
Generally, this is a bet placed before the start of the competition, and it lasts until the season or the tournament ends.
For example, before the English Premier League starts, you place a future bet in July on who you think will win the next season or which player you think will score the most goals for that season.
You have to wait until the end of the season next May to see whether you’ve won or lost your bet.
